Surah An-Naba

سُورَةُ النَّبَإِ
The Tidings 40 Ayahs Meccan Juz 30

Surah An-Naba questions what people dispute about—the great news of resurrection. It presents signs in creation proving Allah's power to resurrect.

عَمَّ یَتَسَآءَلُوْنَ ۟ۚ
English

About what are they asking one another?

2
عَنِ النَّبَاِ الْعَظِیْمِ ۟ۙ
English

About the great news -

3
الَّذِیْ هُمْ فِیْهِ مُخْتَلِفُوْنَ ۟ؕ
English

That over which they are in disagreement.

4
كَلَّا سَیَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟ۙ
English

No! They are going to know.

5
ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَیَعْلَمُوْنَ ۟
English

Then, no! They are going to know.

6
اَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْاَرْضَ مِهٰدًا ۟ۙ
English

Have We not made the earth a resting place?

7
وَّالْجِبَالَ اَوْتَادًا ۟
English

And the mountains as stakes?

8
وَّخَلَقْنٰكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا ۟ۙ
English

And We created you in pairs

9
وَّجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتًا ۟ۙ
English

And made your sleep [a means for] rest

10
وَّجَعَلْنَا الَّیْلَ لِبَاسًا ۟ۙ
English

And made the night as clothing

11
وَّجَعَلْنَا النَّهَارَ مَعَاشًا ۪۟
English

And made the day for livelihood

12
وَّبَنَیْنَا فَوْقَكُمْ سَبْعًا شِدَادًا ۟ۙ
English

And constructed above you seven strong [heavens]

13
وَّجَعَلْنَا سِرَاجًا وَّهَّاجًا ۟
English

And made [therein] a burning lamp

14
وَّاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْمُعْصِرٰتِ مَآءً ثَجَّاجًا ۟ۙ
English

And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water

15
لِّنُخْرِجَ بِهٖ حَبًّا وَّنَبَاتًا ۟ۙ
English

That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation

16
وَّجَنّٰتٍ اَلْفَافًا ۟ؕ
English

And gardens of entwined growth.

17
اِنَّ یَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ كَانَ مِیْقَاتًا ۟ۙ
English

Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time -

18
یَّوْمَ یُنْفَخُ فِی الصُّوْرِ فَتَاْتُوْنَ اَفْوَاجًا ۟ۙ
English

The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes

19
وَّفُتِحَتِ السَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتْ اَبْوَابًا ۟ۙ
English

And the heaven is opened and will become gateways

20
وَّسُیِّرَتِ الْجِبَالُ فَكَانَتْ سَرَابًا ۟ؕ
English

And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage.

21
اِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتْ مِرْصَادًا ۟
English

Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait

22
لِّلطَّاغِیْنَ مَاٰبًا ۟ۙ
English

For the transgressors, a place of return,

23
لّٰبِثِیْنَ فِیْهَاۤ اَحْقَابًا ۟ۚ
English

In which they will remain for ages [unending].

24
لَا یَذُوْقُوْنَ فِیْهَا بَرْدًا وَّلَا شَرَابًا ۟ۙ
English

They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink

25
اِلَّا حَمِیْمًا وَّغَسَّاقًا ۟ۙ
English

Except scalding water and [foul] purulence -

26
جَزَآءً وِّفَاقًا ۟ؕ
English

An appropriate recompense.

27
اِنَّهُمْ كَانُوْا لَا یَرْجُوْنَ حِسَابًا ۟ۙ
English

Indeed, they were not expecting an account

28
وَّكَذَّبُوْا بِاٰیٰتِنَا كِذَّابًا ۟ؕ
English

And denied Our verses with [emphatic] denial.

29
وَكُلَّ شَیْءٍ اَحْصَیْنٰهُ كِتٰبًا ۟ۙ
English

But all things We have enumerated in writing.

30
فَذُوْقُوْا فَلَنْ نَّزِیْدَكُمْ اِلَّا عَذَابًا ۟۠
English

"So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment."

31
اِنَّ لِلْمُتَّقِیْنَ مَفَازًا ۟ۙ
English

Indeed, for the righteous is attainment -

32
حَدَآىِٕقَ وَاَعْنَابًا ۟ۙ
English

Gardens and grapevines

33
وَّكَوَاعِبَ اَتْرَابًا ۟ۙ
English

And full-breasted [companions] of equal age

34
وَّكَاْسًا دِهَاقًا ۟ؕ
English

And a full cup.

35
لَا یَسْمَعُوْنَ فِیْهَا لَغْوًا وَّلَا كِذّٰبًا ۟ۚ
English

No ill speech will they hear therein or any falsehood -

36
جَزَآءً مِّنْ رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابًا ۟ۙ
English

[As] reward from your Lord, [a generous] gift [made due by] account,

37
رَّبِّ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالْاَرْضِ وَمَا بَیْنَهُمَا الرَّحْمٰنِ لَا یَمْلِكُوْنَ مِنْهُ خِطَابًا ۟ۚ
English

[From] the Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them, the Most Merciful. They possess not from Him [authority for] speech.

38
یَوْمَ یَقُوْمُ الرُّوْحُ وَالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُ صَفًّا ۙۗؕ لَّا یَتَكَلَّمُوْنَ اِلَّا مَنْ اَذِنَ لَهُ الرَّحْمٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابًا ۟
English

The Day that the Spirit and the angels will stand in rows, they will not speak except for one whom the Most Merciful permits, and he will say what is correct.

39
ذٰلِكَ الْیَوْمُ الْحَقُّ ۚ فَمَنْ شَآءَ اتَّخَذَ اِلٰی رَبِّهٖ مَاٰبًا ۟
English

That is the True Day; so he who wills may take to his Lord a [way of] return.

40
اِنَّاۤ اَنْذَرْنٰكُمْ عَذَابًا قَرِیْبًا ۖۚ۬ یَّوْمَ یَنْظُرُ الْمَرْءُ مَا قَدَّمَتْ یَدٰهُ وَیَقُوْلُ الْكٰفِرُ یٰلَیْتَنِیْ كُنْتُ تُرٰبًا ۟۠
English

Indeed, We have warned you of a near punishment on the Day when a man will observe what his hands have put forth and the disbeliever will say, "Oh, I wish that I were dust!"
