Surah Ash-Shams

By the sun and its brightness

سورج اور اُس کی دھوپ کی قسم

And [by] the moon when it follows it

اور چاند کی قسم جبکہ وہ اُس کے پیچھے آتا ہے

And [by] the day when it displays it

اور دن کی قسم جبکہ وہ (سورج کو) نمایاں کر دیتا ہے

And [by] the night when it covers it

اور رات کی قسم جبکہ وہ (سورج کو) ڈھانک لیتی ہے

And [by] the sky and He who constructed it

اور آسمان کی اور اُس ذات کی قسم جس نے اُسے قائم کیا

And [by] the earth and He who spread it

اور زمین کی اور اُس ذات کی قسم جس نے اُسے بچھایا

And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it

اور نفس انسانی کی اور اُس ذات کی قسم جس نے اُسے ہموار کیا

And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,

پھر اُس کی بدی اور اُس کی پرہیز گاری اس پر الہام کر دی

He has succeeded who purifies it,

یقیناً فلاح پا گیا وہ جس نے نفس کا تزکیہ کیا

And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].

اور نامراد ہوا وہ جس نے اُس کو دبا دیا

Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,

ثمود نے اپنی سرکشی کی بنا پر جھٹلایا

When the most wretched of them was sent forth.

جب اُس قوم کا سب سے زیادہ شقی آدمی بپھر کر اٹھا

And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."

تو اللہ کے رسول نے اُن لوگوں سے کہا کہ خبردار، اللہ کی اونٹنی کو (ہاتھ نہ لگانا) اوراُس کے پانی پینے (میں مانع نہ ہونا)

But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].

مگر انہوں نے اُس کی بات کو جھوٹا قرار دیا اور اونٹنی کو مار ڈالا آخرکار اُن کے گناہ کی پاداش میں ان کے رب نے ان پر ایسی آفت توڑی کہ ایک ساتھ سب کو پیوند خاک کر دیا

And He does not fear the consequence thereof.

اور اسے (اپنے ا س فعل کے) کسی برے نتیجے کا کوئی خوف نہیں ہے
