Surah Al-Lail

سُورَةُ اللَّيۡلِ
The Night 21 Ayahs Meccan Juz 30

Surah Al-Lail contrasts those who give and are righteous with those who are miserly and deny the truth, describing their different paths.

1
وَالَّیْلِ اِذَا یَغْشٰی ۟ۙ
English

By the night when it covers

2
وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰی ۟ۙ
English

And [by] the day when it appears

3
وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْاُ ۟ۙ
English

And [by] He who created the male and female,

4
اِنَّ سَعْیَكُمْ لَشَتّٰی ۟ؕ
English

Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

5
فَاَمَّا مَنْ اَعْطٰی وَاتَّقٰی ۟ۙ
English

As for he who gives and fears Allah

6
وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنٰی ۟ۙ
English

And believes in the best [reward],

7
فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗ لِلْیُسْرٰی ۟ؕ
English

We will ease him toward ease.

8
وَاَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنٰی ۟ۙ
English

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

9
وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنٰی ۟ۙ
English

And denies the best [reward],

10
فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗ لِلْعُسْرٰی ۟ؕ
English

We will ease him toward difficulty.

11
وَمَا یُغْنِیْ عَنْهُ مَالُهٗۤ اِذَا تَرَدّٰی ۟ؕ
English

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

12
اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا لَلْهُدٰی ۟ؗۖ
English

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

13
وَاِنَّ لَنَا لَلْاٰخِرَةَ وَالْاُوْلٰی ۟
English

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

14
فَاَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظّٰی ۟ۚ
English

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

15
لَا یَصْلٰىهَاۤ اِلَّا الْاَشْقَی ۟ۙ
English

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.

16
الَّذِیْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰی ۟ؕ
English

Who had denied and turned away.

17
وَسَیُجَنَّبُهَا الْاَتْقَی ۟ۙ
English

But the righteous one will avoid it -

18
الَّذِیْ یُؤْتِیْ مَالَهٗ یَتَزَكّٰی ۟ۚ
English

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

19
وَمَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنْدَهٗ مِنْ نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزٰۤی ۟ۙ
English

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

20
اِلَّا ابْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْاَعْلٰی ۟ۚ
English

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.

21
وَلَسَوْفَ یَرْضٰی ۟۠
English

And he is going to be satisfied.
