Surah Al-Muddaththir

O you who covers himself [with a garment],

اے اوڑھ لپیٹ کر لیٹنے والے

Arise and warn

اٹھو اور خبردار کرو

And your Lord glorify

اور اپنے رب کی بڑائی کا اعلان کرو

And your clothing purify

اور اپنے کپڑے پاک رکھو

And uncleanliness avoid

اور گندگی سے دور رہو

And do not confer favor to acquire more

اور احسان نہ کرو زیادہ حاصل کرنے کے لیے

But for your Lord be patient.

اور اپنے رب کی خاطر صبر کرو

And when the trumpet is blown,

اچھا، جب صور میں پھونک ماری جائے گی

That Day will be a difficult day

وہ دن بڑا ہی سخت دن ہوگا

For the disbelievers - not easy.

کافروں کے لیے ہلکا نہ ہوگا

Leave Me with the one I created alone

چھوڑ دو مجھے اور اُس شخص کو جسے میں نے اکیلا پیدا کیا ہے

And to whom I granted extensive wealth

بہت سا مال اُس کو دیا

And children present [with him]

اس کے ساتھ حاضر رہنے والے بیٹے دیے

And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life].

اور اس کے لیے ریاست کی راہ ہموار کی

Then he desires that I should add more.

پھر وہ طمع رکھتا ہے کہ میں اسے اور زیادہ دوں

No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate.

ہرگز نہیں، وہ ہماری آیات سے عناد رکھتا ہے

I will cover him with arduous torment.

میں تو اسے عنقریب ایک کٹھن چڑھائی چڑھواؤں گا

Indeed, he thought and deliberated.

اس نے سوچا اور کچھ بات بنانے کی کوشش کی

So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

تو خدا کی مار اس پر، کیسی بات بنانے کی کوشش کی

Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

ہاں، خدا کی مار اُس پر، کیسی بات بنانے کی کوشش کی

Then he considered [again];

پھر (لوگوں کی طرف) دیکھا

Then he frowned and scowled;

پھر پیشانی سیکڑی اور منہ بنایا

Then he turned back and was arrogant

پھر پلٹا اور تکبر میں پڑ گیا

And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others].

آخرکار بولا کہ یہ کچھ نہیں ہے مگر ایک جادو جو پہلے سے چلا آ رہا ہے

This is not but the word of a human being."

یہ تو یہ ایک انسانی کلام ہے

I will drive him into Saqar.

عنقریب میں اسے دوزخ میں جھونک دوں گا

And what can make you know what is Saqar?

اور تم کیا جانو کہ کیا ہے وہ دوزخ؟

It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned],

نہ باقی رکھے نہ چھوڑے

Blackening the skins.

کھال جھلس دینے والی

Over it are nineteen [angels].

انیس کارکن اُس پر مقرر ہیں

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity.

ہم نے دوزخ کے یہ کارکن فرشتے بنائے ہیں، اور ان کی تعداد کو کافروں کے لیے فتنہ بنا دیا ہے، تاکہ اہل کتاب کو یقین آ جائے اور ایمان لانے والوں کا ایمان بڑھے، اور اہل کتاب اور مومنین کسی شک میں نہ رہیں، اور دل کے بیمار اور کفار یہ کہیں کہ بھلا اللہ کا اِس عجیب بات سے کیا مطلب ہو سکتا ہے اِس طرح اللہ جسے چاہتا ہے گمراہ کر دیتا ہے اور جسے چاہتا ہے ہدایت بخش دیتا ہے اور تیرے رب کے لشکروں کو خود اُس کے سوا کوئی نہیں جانتا اور اس دوزخ کا ذکر اِس کے سوا کسی غرض کے لیے نہیں کیا گیا ہے کہ لوگوں کو اس سے نصیحت ہو

No! By the moon

ہرگز نہیں، قسم ہے چاند کی

And [by] the night when it departs

اور رات کی جبکہ وہ پلٹتی ہے

And [by] the morning when it brightens,

اور صبح کی جبکہ وہ روشن ہوتی ہے

Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions]

یہ دوزخ بھی بڑی چیزوں میں سے ایک ہے

As a warning to humanity -

انسانوں کے لیے ڈراوا

To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind.

تم میں سے ہر اُس شخص کے لیے ڈراوا جو آگے بڑھنا چاہے یا پیچھے رہ جانا چاہے

Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained

ہر متنفس، اپنے کسب کے بدلے رہن ہے

Except the companions of the right,

دائیں بازو والوں کے سوا

[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other

جو جنتوں میں ہوں گے وہاں وہ،

About the criminals,

مجرموں سے پوچھیں گے

[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?"

"تمہیں کیا چیز دوزخ میں لے گئی؟"

They will say, "We were not of those who prayed,

وہ کہیں گے "ہم نماز پڑھنے والوں میں سے نہ تھے

Nor did we used to feed the poor.

اور مسکین کو کھانا نہیں کھلاتے تھے

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

اور حق کے خلاف باتیں بنانے والوں کے ساتھ مل کر ہم بھی باتیں بنانے لگتے تھے

And we used to deny the Day of Recompense

اور روز جزا کو جھوٹ قرار دیتے تھے

Until there came to us the certainty."

یہاں تک کہ ہمیں اُس یقینی چیز سے سابقہ پیش آ گیا"

So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.

اُس وقت سفارش کرنے والوں کی سفارش ان کے کسی کام نہ آئے گی

Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away

آخر اِن لوگوں کو کیا ہو گیا ہے کہ یہ اِس نصیحت سے منہ موڑ رہے ہیں

As if they were alarmed donkeys

گویا یہ جنگلی گدھے ہیں
