Surah Al-Qiyaama

سُورَةُ القِيَامَةِ
The Resurrection 40 Ayahs Meccan Juz 29

Surah Al-Qiyamah vividly describes the Day of Resurrection and the human soul's accountability. It affirms that Allah can resurrect even fingertips.

1
لَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِیَوْمِ الْقِیٰمَةِ ۟ۙ
English

I swear by the Day of Resurrection

2
وَلَاۤ اُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ ۟ؕ
English

And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].

3
اَیَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَلَّنْ نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهٗ ۟ؕ
English

Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

4
بَلٰى قٰدِرِیْنَ عَلٰۤی اَنْ نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهٗ ۟
English

Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.

5
بَلْ یُرِیْدُ الْاِنْسَانُ لِیَفْجُرَ اَمَامَهٗ ۟ۚ
English

But man desires to continue in sin.

6
یَسْـَٔلُ اَیَّانَ یَوْمُ الْقِیٰمَةِ ۟ؕ
English

He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

7
فَاِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ ۟ۙ
English

So when vision is dazzled

8
وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ ۟ۙ
English

And the moon darkens

9
وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ ۟ۙ
English

And the sun and the moon are joined,

10
یَقُوْلُ الْاِنْسَانُ یَوْمَىِٕذٍ اَیْنَ الْمَفَرُّ ۟ۚ
English

Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"

11
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ۟ؕ
English

No! There is no refuge.

12
اِلٰى رَبِّكَ یَوْمَىِٕذِ لْمُسْتَقَرُّ ۟ؕ
English

To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.

13
یُنَبَّؤُا الْاِنْسَانُ یَوْمَىِٕذٍۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَاَخَّرَ ۟ؕ
English

Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.

14
بَلِ الْاِنْسَانُ عَلٰی نَفْسِهٖ بَصِیْرَةٌ ۟ۙ
English

Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,

15
وَّلَوْ اَلْقٰى مَعَاذِیْرَهٗ ۟ؕ
English

Even if he presents his excuses.

16
لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهٖ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهٖ ۟ؕ
English

Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an.

17
اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا جَمْعَهٗ وَقُرْاٰنَهٗ ۟ۚۖ
English

Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.

18
فَاِذَا قَرَاْنٰهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْاٰنَهٗ ۟ۚ
English

So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.

19
ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَیْنَا بَیَانَهٗ ۟ؕ
English

Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].

20
كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّوْنَ الْعَاجِلَةَ ۟ۙ
English

No! But you love the immediate

21
وَتَذَرُوْنَ الْاٰخِرَةَ ۟ؕ
English

And leave the Hereafter.

22
وُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ نَّاضِرَةٌ ۟ۙ
English

[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,

23
اِلٰى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ ۟ۚ
English

Looking at their Lord.

24
وَوُجُوْهٌ یَّوْمَىِٕذٍۭ بَاسِرَةٌ ۟ۙ
English

And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,

25
تَظُنُّ اَنْ یُّفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ ۟ؕ
English

Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.

26
كَلَّاۤ اِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِیَ ۟ۙ
English

No! When the soul has reached the collar bones

27
وَقِیْلَ مَنْ رَاقٍ ۟ۙ
English

And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"

28
وَّظَنَّ اَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ ۟ۙ
English

And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation

29
وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ ۟ۙ
English

And the leg is wound about the leg,

30
اِلٰى رَبِّكَ یَوْمَىِٕذِ لْمَسَاقُ ۟ؕ۠
English

To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.

31
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلّٰى ۟ۙ
English

And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.

32
وَلٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰى ۟ۙ
English

But [instead], he denied and turned away.

33
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ اِلٰۤی اَهْلِهٖ یَتَمَطّٰى ۟ؕ
English

And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].

34
اَوْلٰى لَكَ فَاَوْلٰى ۟ۙ
English

Woe to you, and woe!

35
ثُمَّ اَوْلٰى لَكَ فَاَوْلٰى ۟ؕ
English

Then woe to you, and woe!

36
اَیَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَنْ یُّتْرَكَ سُدًی ۟ؕ
English

Does man think that he will be left neglected?

37
اَلَمْ یَكُ نُطْفَةً مِّنْ مَّنِیٍّ یُّمْنٰى ۟ۙ
English

Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?

38
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوّٰى ۟ۙ
English

Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]

39
فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَیْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْاُ ۟ؕ
English

And made of him two mates, the male and the female.

40
اَلَیْسَ ذٰلِكَ بِقٰدِرٍ عَلٰۤی اَنْ یُّحْیِ الْمَوْتٰى ۟۠
English

Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
